Escalon High School’s Sober Grad Committee will have a 2019 Grad Night event planning meeting on Monday, Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Pizza Plus on McHenry Avenue.

Longtime organizers Tammy Alcantor and Debbie Leal said they want to “confirm who is helping with what and begin planning.”

Graduation may still be a few months away but the planning begins now, the two added, especially for vendors, letters for parents and students and decorations.

They are looking for people to step up and help with decorating prior to the event, as well as those volunteers to work the night of the event. EHS seniors who helped – and earned some money off their Sober Grad night ticket – included Madisyn Widmer, Frank Leal, Sylvia Guevara, Nash Satnat, Brad DaDalt and Gabby Chavez.

Leal and Alcantor offered thanks to the many volunteers that helped the recent tri-tip drive-thru dinner meet with success, from the barbecue crew to those that packed the dinners to those that donated sodas and made trips to pick items for the meals.

After many years of coordinating the Sober Grad night event, Leal and Alcantor are looking to step back and pass the leadership on to a new group. Several volunteers have taken on roles in a variety of the areas but more help is still needed. Anyone interested in helping out with the graduation night party is invited to attend the planning meeting on Monday, Feb. 11.
