This school year, the Community Service Committee at Escalon High School and Evan Bava, the head of the committee, spent the last few weeks of December rounding up holiday food items for families in need during the Christmas season. With help from the Escalon faculty, along with the generous donations from students and parents, the local FFA chapter was able to put together enough food boxes to feed 15 families, providing the items for a traditional holiday meal. The FFA was also able to gift each family a board game to go with their holiday meal. The FFA would like to thank all the people that helped out and made it possible for families this holiday season to be able to cook their own feast and also sent a special ‘thank you’ to Evan Bava for his hard work.

In addition, the local FFA chapter is working on its first big project for the school year, a brand new Ornamental Horticulture (OH) unit. With help from the school district, the group was able to build a brand new greenhouse. In addition to the greenhouse, Mr. Saephan’s ag mechanics classes and Mrs. Stark’s OH class at Escalon High School have been building brand new planter boxes. A recent workday saw about 40 kids come out and help build the boxes, as the FFA continues to move ahead with projects and service work as part of their efforts for the 2020-21 school year.
