Still going strong after 20 years, the annual Escalon Citywide Yard Sale Day is scheduled this year for Saturday, Oct. 4.

Residents who want to get on the map that will feature a number of sale locations should contact Account Clerk Adri Crim at the City of Escalon, 691-7425, or stop at City Hall at 2060 McHenry Ave. to sign up.

The cost is still $5 to get listed on the map and deadline for sign-ups is Monday, Sept. 29. The maps will be printed and be available starting Thursday, Oct. 2. They will be available at City Hall, on the city website and at a number of locations around town.

The citywide yard sale is just what it says, a day with multiple yard, garage and lawn sales all around the Escalon community, starting at 8 a.m. and running until 2:30 p.m.

Officials anticipate over 100 yard sales that day, and shoppers typically come in from throughout the Central Valley, Sonora, even some from the Bay Area.

“We are getting quite a few,” Crim said of sign-ups for the map.

In addition to individual family sales, some local churches and organizations also utilize the day to raise money, bringing in items from multiple families to sell at one location.

The Escalon Chamber of Commerce will be offering yard sale spaces in the city’s Main Street Park at $10 per space, designed especially for those residents living outside the city limits that want to participate in the citywide sale. They can bring their items in and sell them at the centralized park location. Contact the Chamber at 838-2793 to reserve a space. Also, the Chamber is planning for its next Sunday in the Park, which will feature the second annual Pumpkin Decorating Day on Sunday, Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
