Wednesday Night Community Dinner

Escalon’s Trinity Church, Assembly of God, will host its twice-monthly community dinner tonight, Sept. 18 and then again next week, Sept. 25 at the church on California Street.

With upwards of five dozen people attending on a regular basis, officials said the need for the meals is still there and they will continue to provide them.

Pastor Jim Davis said all are invited to attend; the meal starts at 6 p.m. and the church is open a half hour before that for people to come and socialize. There is also an opportunity to stop by the clothes closet in the church basement adjacent to the social hall to pick up some needed items, starting at 6:30 p.m., after dinner is served.

Food for the weekly meals comes both from the local food bank and donations from local residents. There is no cost to attend; the church offers it as a local ministry to help families make ends meet toward the end of the month.

Volunteers are always needed, said Davis, to help serve and clean up, as well as provide donations. More information is available by contacting the church directly, at 838-3000.
