Hosted by the Escalon Chamber of Commerce, the first Sunday in the Park for 2017 was staged on June 4, drawing a good crowd to the Main Street Park downtown.

With seedlings to be planted, cards to be made for Father’s Day giving, information about the Summer Reading Program from the Escalon Library, a bubble making demonstration and more, there was plenty to keep visitors busy during the day, with the event run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Escalon Historical Society provided freshly popped popcorn, there were hot dogs just off the grill, a display of some classic cars and music by Rich Olds. The historic Main Street Park caboose was also open for touring and members of the Oak Valley Art Society hosted a coloring table and had some artwork on display.

Organizers said the weather was good, with bright sunshine and a cool breeze, providing the perfect backdrop for the park festivities.
