Saturday Fundraiser Benefits Davis Family

The community is encouraged to come out on Saturday to support local pastor Jim Davis as he continues his battle against brain cancer.

The longtime resident, who is pastor at Trinity Church Assembly of God in Escalon, also serves as chaplain for the Escalon Fire Department and is currently working on a major project, getting the Escalon Youth Center plans in place. The former Escalon Motel site along Escalon Avenue near the intersection with Yosemite Avenue, is being utilized for the Youth Center project, much of the demolition of the old buildings already completed.

Davis was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this year and has been undergoing treatment. Organizers hope to welcome Davis and his family to the weekend event.

Festivities are planned for Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The community fundraiser will be hosted at the Escalon Starbucks and among the festivities planned are food, drinks, family fun and visits from fire and police department representatives.

Escalon Fire Department also has a limited number of T-shirts for sale at a cost of $25, with a portion of that going directly to the Davis family to help with ongoing medical costs. Call the firehouse at 838-7500 for more information or to order a T-shirt.
