Wednesday Night Meeting

The next committee and team captain meetings for the 2017 Relay For Life of Escalon are scheduled for this evening, Wednesday, Feb. 8. Committee members will gather at 6 p.m. to continue the planning for the 24-hour American Cancer Society fundraising event scheduled in May at Escalon High School. Team captains will meet at 7 p.m., with both sessions hosted at the Escalon Community Ambulance building, 21480 Ullrey Ave., Escalon.

 

Bunco Benefit Set

Team Cancer Stampers, one of the teams taking part in the Escalon Relay For Life in May, is hosting its annual fundraising Bunco Bash, set for this coming Sunday, Feb. 12. This sixth annual “Let’s stamp out cancer!” bunco event is planned at the Escalon Azores Band Hall, 1436 First St., Escalon and begins at 1 p.m.

Cost is $25 to play and there will also be opportunity drawing tickets available for gift baskets as well. There will be lots of prizes, food and fun. For tickets or more information, call Gerri at 209-324-6947 or Debbie at 209-247-9989.

 

Tri-Tip Drive Thru

Get your tickets now for the Relay For Life Tri-Tip Dinner for Four, scheduled at the Saron Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 4 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Team Nuts For Life is hosting this event, which features ‘curbside service’ with delivery of the full meal to your car; just present your ticket as you enter the church parking lot and the meal will be delivered.

Cost is $40 and that includes a whole BBQ tri-tip, four baked potatoes, a bag of salad, loaf of French bread and a two-liter bottle of soda. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 838-2892 or 838-1838. The church is at 1742 North St.

 

Ride The Rails

Coming up in late April, it is the eighth annual Ride The Rails For Relay, on the Niles Canyon Railway, with three different departure times available. The train leaves from Sunol Depot, 6 Kilkare Road, Sunol at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., with live entertainment on the train with free wine tasting and snacks and beverages available for purchase. You can also bring a picnic to eat on the train or in the park. Trains are handicap and wheelchair accessible. Tickets are valid for the trip on Saturday, April 29. Cost for tickets is $25 for adults, children 2 to 12 $15 and under 2 ride for free. Trains run in all weather; train and crew donated by Niles Canyon Railway.
