New royalty will be selected within the next few weeks, as the Miss Escalon and Little Mr. and Miss Escalon pageants are being planned.
Coinciding with the upcoming Park Fete Week, July 11 through 16, the Miss Escalon Pageant is scheduled for Wednesday, July 13 at 6 p.m. at the Community Center.
Dinner tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance. They will be sold on Thursday, June 30 and Tuesday, July 5 at the Main Street Stage at 5:30 p.m.
Dinner will be catered by Leonardo’s Café; no tickets will be sold at the door.
Miss Escalon contestants this year are (in alphabetical order): Kiana Ancheta, Alexandria Anderson, Jenelle Anderson, Brooklyn Berry, Kaylee Biedermann, Briana Brasil, Taylor Cockrell, Julia Orlando, Dairy Pantoja, Jaden Scott and Lexington Wheeler.
Pageant theme this year is “Enchanted Forest” and the pageant offers up several scholarships for Miss Escalon and her court, courtesy of the Escalon Lions Club. Candidates were on hand at the Monday night Escalon City Council meeting to introduce themselves and each offered a ‘fun fact’ about themselves as well. The majority of this year’s hopefuls are incoming seniors at EHS.
For the younger set, the first meeting for the Little Mr. and Miss Escalon contestants is scheduled for Tuesday, June 28 at the Main Street Stage from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Open to boys and girls, five- to seven-years-old, contestants must reside in or attend school in the Escalon School District. The Pageant will be Thursday, July 14 at 6 p.m. at the Escalon Community Center and all contestants will ride in the Park Fete Parade on Saturday, July 16 at 11 a.m.
Theme for this year’s Little Mr. and Miss Escalon contest is ‘A Bug’s Life.”
