Showers are in the forecast for Friday, but it looks like the weather may clear in time for Opening Day of the Escalon Babe Ruth season.

The Escalon Recreation Department is inviting the community to join in for the Opening Day Ceremonies, which will kick off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 10 at the Hogan-Ennis Community Park adjacent to the city’s Community Center.

Introduction of teams in the various age divisions, from T-Ball to the Majors, for both boys and girls, is scheduled along with the ceremonial first pitch. Weather permitting, a full schedule of games is on tap for Saturday as well.

Escalon Mayor Jeff Laugero is scheduled to serve as emcee for the festivities.
