The deadline is approaching for those wishing to nominate an outstanding woman in the community for the prestigious Susan B. Anthony Women of Achievement Award.
There are 18 categories, from business to government to health care. Nomination packets are now available; honors are for those who have excelled in their fields and raised the status of humankind. Nominations may come from an individual, an organization, or a business.
Nominations must be returned by Friday, Dec. 30. Electronic file packets may be obtained from Beverly Fitch McCarthy, firstname.lastname@example.org, or 463-6957. Printed packets may also be requested by mailing her at 215 West Stadium Drive, Stockton, CA, 95204.
The 12-page (maximum) nomination packets must be returned to SJCCSW, P.O. Box 4443, Stockton, CA 95204. Late deliveries will not be accepted.
The sponsoring organization, the San Joaquin County Commission on the Status of Women, will present no more than 10 women the coveted honor at the 42nd annual banquet in February. An additional Young Feminist Award may be granted. Only those whose volunteer efforts, in addition to professional work and volunteer efforts, are judged outstanding will be considered. Categories include business, community service, creative arts, education, government and politics, homemaking, law and legal services, labor and employment, health care, media, peace, religion, research, science, sports, women’s rights, women’s services, and Young Feminist of Achievement. Award candidates must be current county residents or employed in the county.
The Young Feminist of Achievement honor was established to honor women less than 30 years of age. Only one award is given annually, if suitable candidates have been nominated.
The 42nd Annual Susan B. Anthony Banquet to Honor Women of Achievement will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 at Stockton Golf and Country Club, 3800 W. Country Club Blvd., Stockton, at 5:30 p.m. Tables of 10 are $500 with payment due by Wednesday, Feb. 1. Individual tickets at $50 each are due by Wednesday, Feb. 8. No tickets will be sold at the door.
