Lane Shift Work Due On McHenry Avenue
Cone

Construction crews are paving and reconfiguring the McHenry Avenue and River Road intersection in Escalon this week. The work began with a temporary lane closure on Tuesday, April 24 and work will continue through Friday, April 27.

This work will prepare the project area for a traffic shift to the eastern half of the new bridge. Construction crews will begin shifting traffic Thursday evening, April 26 and the shift will be in place by Friday morning.

It’s part of the ongoing McHenry Avenue Improvement Project, which includes replacement of the bridge over the Stanislaus River spanning San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties. Eventually, a stop light will be put in at the intersection of River and McHenry; it is currently a roundabout but the signal light is to be installed once the new bridge construction is complete and other improvements have been made.

Motorists are asked to use extra care and to comply with construction signs in the area over the next few days as work is being done on the lane shift.
