The Human Services Program at Modesto Junior College is sponsoring a Fall 2016 Orientation on Thursday, Aug. 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Room 218 of the Center for Advanced Technologies (CAT) Building on East Campus, 435 College Ave., Modesto. The public is invited to participate in this free event.

The event showcases the degrees, certificates of achievement, and skills recognition awards available to students in human services, chemical dependency counseling, psychosocial rehabilitation, and gerontology.

MJC’s Human Services Program includes the Chemical Dependency Counseling Program that meets the educational requirements necessary to take California’s Department of Alcohol and Drug Program’s (ADP) state licensing exam. Additionally, the nine-unit Skills Recognition Award in Psychosocial Rehabilitation allows students to become eligible to sit for the exam to become certified as psychosocial rehabilitation practitioners.

Several local human services organizations will also participate in the Fall 2016 Orientation at MJC. Representatives from Stanislaus County, behavioral health care, chemical dependency counseling, children and family services as well as many other interrelated fields will provide information about volunteer or internship opportunities, and the services that they provide for individuals, families, groups and the community at large.
