Escalon High School’s Drama Club is staging “Into The Woods” in the Performing Arts Center this week, with shows planned both Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2.
The Friday night show on May 1 begins at 7 p.m. and the May 2 matinee is at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Tickets are available for purchase online at the EHS ASB Store or by contacting Karen at the ASB office on the EHS campus.
According to the publicity information for the show, “Into The Woods is a musical tied together by a story involving a childless baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family (the original beginning of the Grimm Brothers’ “Rapunzel”), their interaction with a witch who has placed a curse on them and encounters with other storybook characters during their journey.”
The musical is generally considered appropriate for mature children, age 10 and older, rather than young children. It is not recommended for very young children due to dark themes in the second act.
Taking on the main roles in the EHS production are Taylor Bruns, Cristal Prado, John Bush, Bailey Schultz, Sophia Barboza, and Jenna Augusto.
While Act 1 is described as “a lighthearted mash-up of fairy tales,” Act 2 features a more somber mood that is not appropriate for young children.
Ticket prices are $10 for those 18 and older; $8 for children over eight, $5 for eight and under.
