Homecoming Week Keep Students Busy

Escalon High will celebrate its Winter Homecoming on Friday night, culminating a week full of dress up days and fun activities, with the crowning of the Homecoming King at halftime of the varsity boys basketball game.

The Cougars will welcome the Ripon Christian Knights to town for a full slate of Trans-Valley League games on Friday, Jan. 15 starting with the freshman contest at 4:30 p.m., JV at 6 p.m. and the varsity tipoff at 7:30 p.m.

Homecoming King candidates for EHS this year are (in alphabetical order): Hunter Calton, son of Thad and Brenda Calton; Wyatt Cockrell, Will and Tina Cockrell; Caleb Hansen, Carl and Lorilee Hansen; Samuel Lattig, Dave and Jenee Lattig; Logan Widmer, Paul and Natercia Widmer. All five candidates are scheduled to be escorted to center court by their parents at halftime of the varsity game and 2015-16 Homecoming Queen Taylor Laugero is expected to present the crown to this year’s King.

Also, special Dress Up Days are being observed on the EHS campus throughout the week, leading up to the Homecoming finale on Friday. Monday was Pajama Day and Tuesday was College Shirt Day.

Today, Wednesday, is TV Show Character Day and Thursday will be Theme Day, with the different classes dressing up in accordance with the designated class themes. Freshman class is Star Wars, sophomores are Grease, juniors are The Breakfast Club and senior theme is Mean Girls.

Friday will be the traditional Purple and Gold Spirit Day, with a rally schedule in effect and the student body gathering in the new gym for a rally to close out the school day prior to the tip off of the trio of basketball contests.
