Firefighters Take To Streets To Raise Funds For Institute
EFD

This year’s Fill The Boot drive by the Escalon Consolidated Fire Protection District is scheduled for this coming weekend, April 28 and 29.

Firefighters will be manning the main intersection in the city with their turnout boots both Friday and Saturday, seeking donations from motorists. The drive raises funds for the Firefighters Burn Institute in Sacramento.

Motorists should be on the lookout for the firefighters, who will be stationed on all sides of the Escalon-Bellota Road-Highway 120-McHenry Avenue intersection. The high traffic area helps firefighters collect thousands of dollars to benefit the Burn Institute programs and services, ranging from fire prevention activities to sending young burn victims to special summer camps.

Hours for the drive are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Those motorists passing through the intersection who donate to the drive are provided with a ‘Fill the Boot’ informational flyer that they can place in their windshield so they aren’t asked for another donation the next time they drive through the area.

Last year’s drive set a new record for the Escalon department in terms of collection, raising over $26,000 during the two-day effort.
