Final Session Slated For Writers Toolbox

Three San Joaquin County children’s authors, Katie A. Nelson, Margaret Baker-Street and Jennifer Torres Siders, will speak at the final Writers’ Toolbox workshop on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the First Unitarian Church, 2737 Pacific Ave., Stockton.

The event is free and open to the public at 11 a.m. It will include a FAQ (frequently asked questions) publication; the mini-book will contain author photos, biographies, and discussion topics. The writers will examine and explore their creations in relation to their subjects and audiences. Questions will be welcomed, and a reception will follow.

Katie Nelson of Modesto grew up in Stockton. Her debut young adult novel, The Duke of Bannerman Prep, will be released in 2017 by Sky Pony. Margaret Baker-Street of Lodi self-published Michael and Me, about a boy who has a classmate who’s a girl one year and a boy the next. Jennifer Torres Siders of Stockton is the author of Finding the Music: En pos de la Musica, a Spanish bilingual book. Her next book, Stef Soto, Taco Queen, is due out from Little, Brown and Co. next year. The author is a Stockton resident, and the community relations manager of University of the Pacific.

The series is sponsored by the Marion Jacobs Literary Forum, the Stockton Arts Foundation, Tuleburg Press, and the Heritage Writers’ Community.
