Escalon FFA Chapter Attends Area Field Days

With the coming of March, in the local FFA chapter, the season of field days is now upon us. Field days are where the agricultural students from Escalon High School compete with other chapters in applying the skills that they have learned from their coaches. On March 3rd, the chapter had various teams such as Agronomy, Vegetable Judging, Livestock Judging, Floral, Milk and Dairy Products, BIG, Farm Power, and Ag Mechanics attend the UC Davis Field Day. At Davis, several members and teams were recognized. Agronomy was 3rd high team in their competition with Matthew Lima recognized as 4th high individual. Vegetable Judging came in 5th high in their contest. Jake Kroon from Farm Power also took 1st high individual in the entire contest.

Also, on March 10th, the chapter also competed in the Chico State Field Day. In the Best Informed Greenhand competition, Escalon took 5th high team, while Emma Bracco was recognized for 5th high individual. Farm Power was 5th high team overall while Jake Kroon took 4th high individual. Agronomy also did well, with Escalon purple team coming in 3rd high, with Matthew Lima placing 5th high individual. Escalon gold team placed 4th high team overall, and in the Vegetable Judging competition Escalon placed 4th high team overall. It was a successful competition for Escalon FFA.

Teams also recently participated in the Merced College Field Day. Our chapter took many teams such as BIG, Veg crops, Ag Mechanics, Farm power, Dairy Products judging and several others. At the end of the day, at the awards ceremony, Veg Crops was recognized as 4th high team in their competition, and Jake Kroon from Farm Power received 4th high individual. The chapter wants to thank everyone for their hard work and reminds them to keep practicing.
