Escalon Sports Boosters will host their annual holiday parking lot sale on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot at Escalon High School adjacent to the tennis courts. There will be a variety of Cougar gear, from T-shirts to hats, sweatshirts and more, with plenty of gift ideas for the Cougar fan in the family for the upcoming holidays. Proceeds benefit all sports teams at EHS.

Coming up on Friday night, it’s the second annual Dinner and Auction put on by the Escalon Police Department Reserve Volunteer Explorer Unit. The festivities are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 1 at the Escalon Community Center. Tickets are $25 per person in advance, $30 at the door. Tables are available for a cost of $200; inquire at the police department for more details. The Escalon Sunrise Rotary Club, in cooperation with the Escalon United Methodist Church and Seventh Day Adventist Church, are planning a special event for local senior citizens at Escalon United Methodist, 2000 Jackson Ave., Escalon, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by Thursday, Nov. 30. Food, entertainment and gifts will be provided by the Escalon Sunrise Rotary and donations from within the community. Transportation is available to the site; all senior citizens from Escalon and the surrounding area are encouraged to attend. The final show in Sierra Repertory Theatre’s 2017 Season is a contemporary musical about cynicism, belief, and the real meaning of Christmas. ‘Another Night Before Christmas’ plays at the East Sonora Theatre, Friday, Dec. 1 through Saturday, Dec. 23. Shows are on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.; Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Admission ranges from $20 for children 17 and under to $37 for general admission, with adult and senior prices varying depending on day and time of performance. The local REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club gathers for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Dec. 6. Golden Agers weekly dances are open to those 50 and older from throughout the Central Valley at the Riverbank Community Center. Doors open Wednesdays at 9 a.m.; the center is at 3600 Santa Fe St., and first time guests are admitted free. The annual membership fee is $12 and each Wednesday members pay $5 and non-members can enjoy a few hours of music and dancing for $6.
