The Friday night basketball game against the visiting Mountain House Mustangs will feature a special event – crowning of a Winter Homecoming King.

This week is Homecoming Week on the campus of Escalon High School and the king candidates were introduced at a Tuesday afternoon rally. Candidates are, in alphabetical order, Cuyler Crawford, Steven Grossi, Max Nicholas, Sahil Prasad and Rex Robbins. All have been involved with sports and other activities on campus and the King will be crowned at halftime of the varsity basketball game. Grossi, Nicholas and Prasad all play for the varsity basketball team while Crawford was part of the football team this past fall and Robbins was part of the cross country squad.

Meanwhile, students are getting into the spirit of the festivities with special Dress Up Days during the week. Tuesday, the first day of school for the week due to the observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, was celebrated as ‘Mom and Dad Day.’

Wednesday is Meme Day, Thursday will be Throwback Thursday and Friday, Jan. 19 will be Cougar Spirit Day.

Basketball competition starts with the freshmen, tipping off at 4:30 p.m. Friday, followed by the JV basketball game at 6 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m.
