Lady Cougars Preparing For Nor Cal Contest
Cougars

Their first ever appearance in a Nor Cal playoff game will be in the Cougar Dome.

Escalon’s varsity basketball girls qualified for the Nor Cal Tournament, by virtue of a pair of Section playoff wins.

They are scheduled to host AIMS College Prep out of Oakland in the Tuesday, Feb. 28 contest.

Escalon comes in to the 2023 CIF State Girls Basketball Nor Cals as the number eight seed in Division 5. AIMS College Prep, as the number nine seed, has to travel so the Lady Cougars will be at home and are hoping for a big crowd.

“Our season isn’t done,” head coach Joseph Dalpogetti said. “We need the same support we had at Riverbank on Tuesday.”

Escalon bowed out of the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs in a semifinal road loss on Feb. 21 at Riverbank but Dalpogetti said the fans traveled well and supported the team. He’s eager to see that many turn out for the 7 p.m. tip off time on Feb. 28.

The AIMS College Prep Golden Eagles went 8-0 and took first place n the Bay Area Charter League; they come in with an overall record of 16-5. Escalon comes in at 19-9 overall and were third in Trans-Valley League play with an 8-4 mark.

Winner of this 8-9 match up will move on for a Thursday, March 2 game against the winner of the No. 1 Fall River-No. 16 Big Valley Christian contest, also being played on Feb. 28.
