Members of the Escalon Key Club will be up to their elbows in color on Friday.
While it may be a day off from school for the observance of Good Friday, the students will spend part of their day making sure the hundreds of eggs to be hidden for Saturday's Easter Egg Hunt are brightly colored and decorated.
Purple, red, orange, green, yellow - virtually all the colors of the rainbow - will be featured as Key Club members gather with their sponsoring organization Kiwanis Club counterparts at Saron Lutheran Church on North Street early Friday morning to color the eggs.
The annual Escalon Kiwanis-sponsored Easter Egg Hunt is on the schedule for Saturday, April 23 and as is tradition, will be hosted at El Portal Middle School on First Street. Egg hunters from birth up to 11 years old are welcome, with three separate age groups offered, and those attending should bring a basket or bucket to collect their eggs.
This fun, family friendly event is sponsored by the Kiwanis and all participants will receive a goodie bag. There will also be special 'golden' eggs hidden throughout the hunt area, so two youngsters in each age group will receive a grand prize of a special candy and toy-filled Easter basket.
The hunt will begin at 10 a.m. There will also be coffee and muffins available to parents the day of the hunt.
