Graduation Ceremonies Fill Week’s Schedule

Students in the Escalon Unified School District will be celebrating graduations all this week, culminating with the Escalon High School Class of 2019 taking the stage on Friday, May 31.

Many school sites will have ceremonies for their kindergarten students, moving on to first grade next year, while Escalon’s Gateway Academy charter school will have its graduation during the day on Wednesday, May 29 with the eighth graders meeting in the district board room at 10 a.m.; the high school Gateway graduates meeting at 11 a.m. at the board room.

Vista High School seniors will be honored at their graduation beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29 in the Performing Arts Center on the Escalon High campus.

For the El Portal Middle School Panthers, they take the final walk as eighth grade students on Thursday, May 30. Their graduation is set for a 7 p.m. start at Engel Field in Memorial Stadium on the EHS campus. The middle schoolers will enter the field as eighth graders and exit ready to become Cougars next fall. Student speakers for the evening will be Bailey Dugo and Kevin Romero.

Finally, the Class of 2019 from Escalon High School will gather for graduation ceremonies in the stadium on Friday night, May 31. Valedictorian this year is Madisyn Widmer and she is scheduled to give a speech during the ceremony.

Co-Salutatorians this year are Trenton Berchtold and Hailie Webster.

Senior Class President Sylvia Guevara will take the podium to offer remarks at the May 31 graduation as well.

Also scheduled on Friday night, the high school graduates will have the chance to enjoy their Sober Grad all night party, hosted on campus and offering a variety of fun activities, games, food, beverages, Henna tattoos, prize drawings and more. The event provides an opportunity for the graduates to enjoy a final memorable night together as high school students before going on to college, careers or the military.
