The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a freeze warning for early Sunday morning and early Monday morning.
The affected area includes the Southern Sacramento Valley, Carquinez Strait and Delta and Northern San Joaquin Valley Counties.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 to 34 expected. The next two mornings, coldest locations will be in rural areas.
The freeze warning is in effect beginning Sunday, Nov. 26 from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, and again for Monday, Nov. 27 from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m., PST.
Frost and freeze conditions could damage sensitive vegetation.
Cold temperatures will also impact the unhoused and those without adequate heating.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
