Residents of Escalon who have taken down the Christmas decorations and are looking to dispose of their tree can take advantage of a free service this weekend.

Escalon Consolidated Fire Protection District crews will be out and about within the city limits early morning Saturday, Jan. 6 to pick up discarded Christmas trees. They are taken to the local Lionudakis Orchard Removal/Firewood business where they are chipped up.

Those who would like to dispose of their tree for free are asked to place them curbside outside the home on Friday evening, Jan. 5 so they will be ready for the early Saturday morning pick up.

Residents are also reminded to remove all tinsel and ornaments, as well as taking the tree out of the stand before placing it at the curb.
