Diners enjoyed a variety of soups and pies while shoppers had plenty to peruse at the annual Escalon United Methodist Church holiday bazaar, soup and pie luncheon.

While many came for the food, just as many came to shop and take home some handmade unique wooden items, homemade jams and jellies, frozen homemade ready-to-bake pies, crocheted items and more. There was also a drawing for a quilt.

The lunch menu featured the choice of Chili Beef or Potato soup, served with Genova French bread, a slice of pie and choice of apple cider, coffee or ice water to drink.

The pies, which were served by the slice at the lunch, were also available for purchase to take home and bake. Varieties offered were apple, apricot, blackberry, boysenberry, chocolate, custard, lemon meringue, peach, pumpkin, raspberry, rhubarb and strawberry rhubarb.
