Saturday February 26th, 'Pedaling Paths to Independence,' which supports the blind and visually impaired, traveled through Farmington. They stopped at the fire station where the cyclists were greeted by Doug and Clyde. Lots of refreshments were provided such as oranges, muffins and the brownies that were made by the blind. They estimated about 200 to 210 came riding through. I drove the route, which took them from Escalon-Bellota Road to Milton Road, where the next rest stop was located. There were more refreshments and I found Joe Sanguinetti from the Farmington Circle K handing out Gatorade bottles to the cyclists. Spoke with a rider from Modesto and she told me she was having a great time, the roads were very nice, scenery was beautiful and most of the motorists showed courtesy and respect. There were two routes that they could choose from. The shortest route was 25 miles and the longest 65 miles. Each participant paid a fee, which goes to the Blind and Visually Impaired Organization.
