From "Doc Alders, Farmington's Lone Eagle" Reminiscence: Doc managed to escape matrimony up until 1950. A friend of his was taking the fateful step. Doc served as an usher for the wedding. One of the bridesmaids caught his attention. She was Josephine Voight. Her dad ran a brake shop on Miner Avenue in Stockton.

Doc and Jo have two children, daughters Nancy and Judy. Nancy started at Farmington School about 1959 and her younger sister, Judy, started school about 1963. As was the case for rural schools there was no Kindergarten at Farmington School. Country kids ran around on the farm until they were old enough to handle first grade. The girls attended classes in the same school building where their dad had completed the eighth grade. The wrecking ball took the old red brick school down after commencement in 1971. It was replaced by a new expanded facility.

Nancy started attending Escalon High School in Escalon around 1967 and Judy started around 1971. Nancy remained single. Judy married and had a son, whom she named Zane.
