The 74th Junior Grand National Cow Palace Livestock Show and Rodeo was held in Daly City, California on October 15th-18th, 2015. Although one of the main events is a national rodeo, Cow Palace offers a nationally attended livestock show, which draws exhibitors from other states to see how their livestock matches up with what is raised on the West Coast.

Three Escalon FFA members, Kenlee Hiatt, Tristin King, and Jenna Solari, showed livestock during the event. These animals were an extension of their FFA Supervised Agriculture Experiences, which traditionally end after the county fair. Kenlee Hiatt, a swine exhibitor, took her breeding gilt to the show and placed 2nd in her breeding class and 5th in advanced swine showmanship. Tristin King, a goat showman, placed 7th with her market Boer goat. Jenna Solari, a beef showman who was the county showmanship winner earlier in this summer’s San Joaquin Ag Fest, placed in the top end of nationally-rank advanced showman with a 4th place finish. She also snatched up 1st place in her steer’s market class, which qualified her for the championship drive.

The members worked hard to prepare themselves and their livestock for the show. The Escalon FFA is proud of the accomplishments of the young individuals and their commitment to the agricultural industry.
