Volunteers are still needed for a variety of projects in Escalon this coming Saturday, with the Love Escalon fall event due to occur.

The day will start at 9 a.m., with workers gathering at Trinity Church, 1900 California St., in the activity center for a brief introduction of projects being done and separating into groups to head out to the work day.

Escalon, Modesto, Oakdale, Ceres, Riverbank and more communities across the Central Valley are taking part in the day of giving back, with residents volunteering to help their neighbors and bring some civic pride.

For Escalon, activities range from delivering homemade baked goods to local civil servants (firefighters, police, ambulance personnel) to writing 'Letters of Hope' to be sent to military service members. Also on the schedule, clean up at the local food cupboard, C.A.R.E., as well as clean up along the highway and at Paddack Manor mobile home park. A coat drive is being done, a food drive will help benefit the C.A.R.E. Center and Escalon Library will welcome in volunteers to help with shelving books and organizing materials.

The work day runs through 12:30 p.m. and many of the projects are 'family friendly,' with residents of all ages encouraged to get involved.

Escalon Ministerial Association helps coordinate the day and people can learn more and sign up for specific projects by visiting the website, www.loveescalon.com.
