The next meeting in the planning process for the 2020 Relay For Life is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 12 in Oakdale. The Oakdale-Escalon-Riverbank-Waterford combined relay is scheduled for May 2 and 3 and team captain meetings are underway. Also, the Event Leadership Team meets each month to continue the planning. The ELT will gather at 6 p.m. on Feb. 12, with the Team Captain meeting at 7 p.m., hosted at the Oak Valley Medical Plaza, 1425 W. H St., Oakdale.

A February Escalon Chamber of Commerce Mixer has been announced, with Wednesday, Feb. 19 the date set for the mixer at the Tri-Tipery, 29250 Highway 120, at the corner of Seidner Avenue and the highway, just east of the city. The event will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; all are welcome to stop by to say hi, enter for a door prize and check out the eatery. Food and beverages will be available. Learn a new craft and enjoy sharing it with others, as Gerri and Debbie’s Stampin’ Up! Card Classes will be meeting several times during March and April. In March, there will be a Stamp Camp with available dates of Friday, March 20 at 9 a.m. or 6:30 p.m.; or Saturday, March 21 at 9 a.m. or 3 p.m. Looking ahead to April, five classes are scheduled. They include Tuesday, April 14 and Thursday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, April 15 and Friday, April 17 at 9 a.m.; Saturday, April 18 at 10 a.m.

A special reception with the artists featured in the Delicato Fine Arts Show is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m., giving art enthusiasts and wine tasting visitors a chance to meet and talk with the artists. At 3 p.m., awards will be presented to the ribbon winners as part of the Art Show Awards Ceremony. This year, there is a vast selection of themes ranging from landscapes to farm life, wild animals to elegant portraits. The art exhibit is on display in the winery Tasting Room daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Delicato Family Vineyards is in Manteca, off Highway 99 at French Camp Road, exit 246. Those coming to view the artwork are encouraged to vote for their favorite and the artist who collects the most visitor votes by Wednesday, Feb. 19 will receive a $100 Delicato Gift Card.

The Fourth Annual Crab Feed, being put on by Central Valley Community Resources, is set from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, to be held at the Escalon Sportsman’s Club on River Road. Pre-sale tickets are available for $55 for singles, or $100 for a couple, and a whole table is set for $440. They’re being sold through Eventbrite, an online site for accepting payments. The CVCR dinner will feature Caribbean style crab, shrimp and tri-tip for the evening, along with jambalaya rice, cornbread and much more. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling CVCR at 209-869-3055.

Donors are urged to make an appointment to give blood now using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device. Blood remains in short supply and donors of whole blood and platelets are needed. Locally, donors can schedule visits at Red Cross Donation Centers in Modesto, 1900 W. Orangeburg Ave.; in Stockton, 2888 W. March Lane; and in Sonora, 850 Sanguinetti Lane.

Golden Agers weekly dances are open to those 50 and older from throughout the Central Valley and are hosted at the Riverbank Community Center, 3600 Santa Fe St., Riverbank. First time guests are admitted free. The annual membership fee is $12 and each Wednesday members pay $5 and non-members can enjoy a few hours of music and dancing for $6. The Golden Agers meet from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The local REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club gathers for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Feb. 19. Everything new in the game of fly fishing from the Pacific Ocean to Pyramid Lake will be on display when the three-day 2020 Pleasanton Fly Fishing Show kicks off the season, Feb. 21 through 23 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, 4501 Pleasanton Ave. The show’s newest edition features more than 15 seminars, demonstrations or audio/visual presentations each hour together with wall-to-wall displays of the newest fly rods, reels, lines, boots, waders, clothing, water craft, artwork and flies during the mid-winter run. Scouts in uniform can earn credits toward a fly fishing merit badge. Fly Fishing Show admission is $15 for one day, $25 for two days and $35 for three days. Children under age 5 are free as are Boy and Girl Scouts under 16 in uniform. Children under 12 are $5. Active military with an ID are $10.

All are invited to the weekly meetings of TOPS, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, 1034 that gathers each Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 1480 Poplar Ave., Oakdale.
