Escalon Market

Completing a successful three-month run – hosted the third Thursday in May, June and July, officials with the Escalon Chamber of Commerce are continuing their downtown summer market. The August Farmer’s Market at the Main Street Park is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18. Flowers, local produce, music, artisanal food, sweet treats and home goods will be among the offerings. There is no entry fee; vendors have a variety of goods for sale at varying prices. Booths are set up in the Main Street Park area, with musicians on stage and an area set aside for eating.

 

Car Show, Vendors

White Blossom Ranch at 10700 Highway 120, east of Oakdale, will be the site for a Car Show and Vendor Faire on Saturday, Aug. 20. Scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be good vibes, classic cars, vendors, food and drinks. Mavericks Ice and The House of Wings are among those scheduled to be on hand in the food area while a variety of vendors will serve up some specialty wares. All are invited to come and see the classic cars and take advantage of the opportunity for shopping some unique booths.

 

Clothing Distribution

The Oakdale Enrichment Society is hosting its annual Community Closet clothing distribution on Saturday, Aug. 20. Staged at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale, hours for the event are 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Clothing for all ages, all sizes, will be available and the goal is to provide gently used, good clothing for those in need throughout the region.

 

Weight Loss Group

All interested are welcome to join TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) a weight support group that meets in Oakdale every Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Community United Methodist Church on Poplar. This group is open to the public and anyone interested in improving their life by losing weight can contact Audrey for more information, call 209-765-7838.

 

Widowed Persons Support

Oakdale Widowed Persons Group invites you to join them the first Saturday of each month for breakfast at 9 a.m. and on the third Tuesday of each month for lunch at 1 p.m.; call for locations. All are welcome to join the group no matter how long ago you lost your spouse. For more information, contact Barbara at 209-322-2184.

 

Enjoy Dancing

Check out the Golden Agers at the Riverbank Community Center on Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with dancing, socializing, live music and fun for all. All adults 55-plus are welcome. Just drop in to check it out or become a member. Fees are $5 for members and $6 for non-members. Membership is $15; contact Ellie DeJesus at 209-277-5584 or Lupe Padron at 209-573-5014.
