City Issues Watering Rules Reminder
esc

As the weather warms up and residents will be looking to water their lawns in the coming months, city officials have issued a reminder about the established watering days for Escalon.

Even addresses in the city may water on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. Odd addresses in the city may water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The non-watering hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and there is no watering on Mondays.

Residents are also reminded to make sure that excess water does not leave their property or the area being watered.

The use of water hoses without a shut-off nozzle is prohibited in the city and the watering of outdoor landscaping while it is raining is also prohibited.

Those planning to water are advised to program their sprinklers to run three to five minutes at a time.

More conservation tips and drought information is available at www.cityofescalon.org or at www.saveourwater.com.

Also, a water rate increase will be reflected on residents’ City of Escalon March utility bills. The residential base rate is rising from $51.45 to $58.95. Water consumption will be $1.44 per thousand gallons of water used. For more information regarding the rate increase, call 209-691-7423.

Upcoming city meetings this month include Tuesday, March 10, 7 p.m. Planning Commission and Monday, March 16 City Council, 7 p.m.

The city’s Recreation Department also invites everyone in the community to join them for the Opening Day Ceremonies for the annual Escalon Babe Ruth baseball season on Saturday, March 7. Opening ceremonies for teams from T-Ball to Majors will begin at 8 a.m. and feature the first pitch being thrown by Emily Govia of Escalon Cub Scout Pack 263. There will be on field introductions of the teams, with recognition for sponsors, and a full day of games following on the fields at Hogan-Ennis Park.
