Chamber Revitalizes Sunday In The Park

With approval to host the event as an ‘open air market,’ the Escalon Chamber of Commerce is bringing back a community favorite: Sunday in the Park.

Officials have announced the return of the event for Sunday, May 2, just in time for kids to do some special projects for Mother’s Day.

City officials said with all the activities outdoors, staged around the city’s Main Street Park, it does qualify as an open air market and, therefore, can be hosted within the continued pandemic ‘tier’ guidelines.

Hours for the event are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The day will kick off with Mommy & Me Yoga put on through EscalonFit, at 10 a.m., followed by a variety of projects. Most are designed for kids as ‘take home’ projects, many suitable for gift giving for mom on May 9.

The activities scheduled include plant a potted flower, design potholders and color a picture, with all projects offered at no cost.

The Escalon Chamber of Commerce – through the years – has hosted a number of special Sunday in the Park events but this is the first one in more than a year, having to shut down due to COVID restrictions.

Chamber officials are hoping for good weather and a good turnout, with all welcome to attend the Sunday in the Park festivities on May 2.
