Bike Month 2020 Is Now Available Online

Bike Month 2020 is live and online. The year 2020 has offered a unique challenge to Bike Month. The San Joaquin Council Of Governments, SJCOG, and dibs are complying with all state, federal, and local guidelines and will not be hosting or assisting with physical Bike Month events. Instead, the plan is to shift focus to health and wellness and recognize those that may be enjoying the outdoors while respecting social distancing guidelines. Established by the San Joaquin Council of Governments in 1978, dibs is a program designed to enhance air quality and help reduce congestion. In partnership with the Stanislaus Council of Governments and the Merced County Association of Governments, dibs offers services to the three counties of San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Merced.

Physical events won’t be appearing this month, but dibs will be offering raffles, contests, sharing daily tips and tricks for bikers, walkers and those working from home, as well as lending their support to local communities. It is their hope that they can still offer a sense of community and encourage wellness at this time through a number of activities.

Weekly: Each week, they’ll raffle virtual food delivery service gift cards to a random trip logger from each county.

Monthly: At the end of the month, the top walker/biker with the most logged trips will receive a meal delivery gift card from the Stockton-based company, Gobble. In addition, they’ll be running a month-long “Bike Decorating” contest. One winner will be chosen from each county and receive a $500 gift card to a bike shop of their choice.

Social Media: They will be peppering in some small social media contests for additional food delivery vouchers. Social Media contests will take place on facebook.com/dibsmyway

Any person 18 or older who is a resident of San Joaquin, Stanislaus, or Merced County is eligible to win. Participants must register and log their trips via dibsmyway.com or through the Commute Tracker App by Ridemigos. Trips must be logged during the period of May 1, 2020 through May 31, 2020.

Dibs is a program of the San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG), the transportation planning, financing and coordinating agency for the San Joaquin Region. It is the Transportation Demand Management program established to promote smart travel options such as carpool, vanpool, transit and biking to improve air quality and reduce congestion. The program provides trip planning tools, incentives and outreach services to employers, jurisdictions and community organizations.
