The Escalon American Legion Gustafson-Thompson Post 263 is sponsoring an Open House for its recently renovated Post Hall at 1531 Second St., Escalon.

The community is invited to attend this special event on Saturday, Oct. 13. The Open House will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a Hall Dedication Ceremony scheduled for 2 p.m.

For many years, the Legion shared the space with the local food pantry, the Escalon C.A.R.E. Center, but once they found a new location (still on Second Street) it allowed the Legion to utilize its full space at 1531 Second.

Now with a working kitchen, space in the back for grilling, a meeting hall, an office and room for sitting down at tables for eating and visiting, the post members are eager to showcase the renovations for the community.

Refreshments will be provided and the dedication ceremony will feature a few remarks from visiting dignitaries and post members.

Also, the American Legion is planning for its annual Veterans Day activities, looking for entries for the parade and selling tickets for the chicken/rib barbecue at the Community Center.

Festivities are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10 starting with the parade on Main Street at 10:30 a.m.

Following the parade, there will be a service at the Memorial Wall adjacent to the Community Center, then the barbecue runs from noon to 3 p.m.

Parade coordinator is Vince Giovaniello; he can be reached at 209-604-9100 for information about how to get registered to join the parade.

For advance sale tickets to the dinner, call Al Bellinger at 209-838-3388. Cost is $11 for adults and $6 for those 12 and younger. Tickets will also be available at the door.
