award

National Philanthropy Day is a national day of celebration, created to recognize and pay tribute to the contributions that philanthropy, and philanthropists, have made to the community.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) - Yosemite Chapter will host the 2018 National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon in early November.

The 2018 National Philanthropy Day Award Recipients include: Outstanding Philanthropist – The Bruno Family; Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser – Janice Lucero, Community Hospice; Outstanding Youth Philanthropist – Erin Benning, Student; Outstanding Fundraising Professional – Kathy Hobby, Stanislaus County Office of Education; Outstanding Corporate Donor – Modesto Toyota; Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation, Service Organization or Nonprofit – Modesto Sunrise Rotary Club; and Lifetime Achievement – Jacqueline Foret.

This year’s awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Gallo Center for the Arts, Modesto.

Open to the public, tickets are $45 per person, or $500 to sponsor a table for 10 people. To reserve a seat for the luncheon contact Amber Flores at (209) 338-5032, aflores@galloarts.org.

Committee Co-Chair Rochele Roura-Foster said, “We take the time to honor those who believe in a better community by participating through philanthropy, volunteerism or, simply, acts of kindness. Recognizing the work of philanthropists and the quality of their character will help usher in the next generation of compassionate people looking forward to cooperatively improving our community.”

Returning this year is the “Champion” designation, which allows organizations to recognize and celebrate the person who has been instrumental in the success of their charitable organization over the past year. All attending non-profit organizations are invited to participate. These organizations can choose to honor a star volunteer, devoted member, major financial supporter, or outstanding staff member. The designated “Champions” will be recognized at the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon. To learn more about how to designate your “Champion,” contact Flores at (209) 338-5032 or aflores@galloarts.org.
