Spring Storms Wreak Havoc On Cougar Sports Schedule

With rainy weather washing out the majority of weekly contests for Cougar spring sports teams, this week hopefully will be better and the squads will take the field, court and track.

On the schedule for baseball is a final non-league game, with the JV and varsity both traveling to play at Stagg High School on Friday, March 23. The JV team will play at 3 p.m.; the varsity is on the schedule for 6 p.m. The baseball teams start league play on Tuesday, March 27 by hosting Riverbank.

Softball teams are scheduled to play Trans-Valley League rival Riverbank on Wednesday, hosting the Lady Bruins at 4 p.m. They will also play at Ripon on Friday, March 23 at 4 p.m. A Monday game, March 26, will see the girls travel to Linden for a make-up of a previously rained out game and they are back to TVL action at Orestimba on Wednesday, March 28.

Tennis players are scheduled to host Orestimba in a league match on Friday, March 23 at 3 p.m. and then will go to Modesto Christian for a Tuesday, March 27 meeting.

Track and field athletes are scheduled to take part in the Trans-Valley League-Mother Lode League Challenge on Thursday, March 22 at 3 p.m. and then will do battle against TVL rival Ripon on the road Wednesday, March 28.

Golfers take on Modesto Christian at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club today, Wednesday, March 21 at 3:30 p.m. and take part in the midseason tournament on March 26. They go to La Contenta to play Calaveras on Wednesday, March 28.

Soccer continues its TVL schedule at Orestimba on Thursday, March 22 at 4 p.m. and then is home to host a tough Hughson team on Tuesday, March 27.
