Soccer Enthusiasts Can Hone Skills

The second Annual SOS One-Day Soccer Camp, sponsored by Valley Sporting Goods, is set for Sunday, Sept. 12, from noon to 4 p.m. at the SOS Club, 819 Sunset Ave., Modesto.

Organized and directed by Joe Owen, former international pro soccer player, and assisted by Nicole Van Dyke, Women's Soccer Head Coach at CSU Stanislaus, the camp is designed for beginning and intermediate soccer players ages 5 to 12.

The one-day camp is $25 if registration is received before Wednesday, Sept. 1. After Sept. 1, the cost is $30 per participant. The fee includes a camp T-shirt, certificate of completion, and mid-day snack.

Sign-in begins at 11:30 a.m. and camp begins promptly at noon. Participants are to bring a water bottle, soccer shoes, socks, and shin guards.

This is the second annual Soccer Camp at the SOS Club and the goal is for players to receive tips from the pros on this fun and exciting sport, while assisting current players in fine-tuning their soccer skills.
