Saturday Session - Wrestling Clinic Scheduled At EHS

Escalon High School will host a Wrestling Clinic and Tournament on Saturday July 14, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost is $20 per participant and those attending must have a SCWAY card; if you need to purchase one, contact Derek Scott.

Among those scheduled to provide instruction are Jesse James Hellinger, a four-time Divisional Champion and two-time Masters Champion, who also took third in the High School State competition. He was a Greco Roman All American Wrestler at Winters High School, a Junior College State Champion at Sacramento City College, NAIA National Qualifier and a current starter at Dickinson State University, North Dakota. Participants will also benefit from the tutelage of Christian Franks, a tow-time CIF State qualifier and an Escalon High School alumnus.

He was a starter at Menlo College as a freshman this past year and is an Academic All American, was an NAIA national qualifier and went 2-2 at the NAIA Nationals. He was voted Newcomer of the Year.

All ages and skill levels welcome and both Hellinger and Franks will be available during wrestling for individual questions and instruction.

Registration starts at 9:45 a.m., with 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., technique; 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., question & answer session; 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., lunch break; 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., informal matches.

Coaches will line up individuals or teams when possible

A nine-time TVL Coach of the Year, Scott was also an NCAA Division 1 All American and a USA Greco Roman National Champion.
