Runners Take Game To Legion Park Competition

The first Trans-Valley League cross country meet of the season was hosted this past week in Modesto.

Taking the win in the varsity boys division was Ripon, over Riverbank in a tiebreaker, with Ripon getting the first two runners across the line, Riverbank the next three.

Team scores were Ripon 34, Riverbank 34, Hughson 58, Orestimba 118 and Escalon 135.

On the varsity girls side, Riverbank's Mikayla Florez was the top girl, but Ripon took the team honors with 26 points. Escalon was second at 44, Riverbank third with 56, followed by Orestimba at 110.

Top finisher for Escalon was Adriana Delucchi, coming in sixth with a time of 23:14. Escalon's varsity girls put eight runners in the top 20 for a very good outing overall.

At the JV level, Hughson won the frosh-soph boys race with 19 points, followed by Riverbank, Orestimba, Ripon and Escalon. Riverbank won the frosh-soph girls with a perfect 15 point score. Escalon was second at 49.

The varsity ran a 5K course at Legion Park in Modesto for the league meet, the frosh-soph squads ran a 2-mile.
