Things are heating up this summer in The Cowboy Capital of the World.

The Oakdale Rodeo Grounds in neighboring Oakdale will host a special event on Saturday, July 28 to celebrate the National Day of the Cowboy.

All are welcome to attend the annual Ranch Rodeo, when cowboys and cowgirls from several counties from around the region will come to compete in events that simulate what a full-time working cowboy does. This is a Western States Ranch Rodeo Association (WSRRA) sanctioned event.

Open and Women’s Divisions will compete in sort, rope and doctor, calf branding, team roping and trailer load and tie. Additionally, the Women’s Division will include a steer stopping competition. Buckles and cash prizes will be awarded to the winning teams in each division.

“The Saddle Club is very grateful to many local community businesses and individuals for their sponsorship of buckles and their generous donations to help support the Club and continue to promote and preserve our Western heritage,” said Oakdale Saddle Club Treasurer Rachel Heiny.

This event is free to spectators. The Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo Grounds are at 1624 E. F St.; Oakdale.
