Escalon’s annual Wing T Camp for football players kicks off on Sunday, June 12 and continues Monday and Tuesday, June 13 and 14.

Head varsity football coach Mark Loureiro said there will be about a half dozen schools in camp, including Escalon, and this year will be a bit different in that they won’t be allowed to utilize helmets and pads. That means no physical, hard hitting contact so the emphasis instead will be on technique and skill development.

“We’re looking forward to it,” Loureiro said of the intensive three-day camp. “It kicks off the season for us, gives us a look at what we’ve got.”

Cost is $125 per player and college coaches from some major colleges come in to help run the camp. Hours for the training are Sunday, June 12 from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Monday, June 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 14 from 9:30 a.m. to noon on the playing fields at EHS.
