Returning to the line-up of fall sports coaches for Escalon High School this year is Teresa Williamson, taking over the varsity volleyball team with Kayla Kootstra stepping down from the post. Williamson had a long tenure during her last stint coaching the varsity and this year has brought in assistant Megan Faria, who played for the Lady Cougars under Williamson several years ago. Together, the two hope to meld the squad into a contender for the Trans-Valley League title. Here is a brief preview question and answer session with Coach Williamson.

Q: Who are your key returners and their positions this year?

A: Natalie Bianchi (Libero) and Jaden Scott (Middle-Outside).

What newcomers do you anticipate having an impact?

Kaitlyn Herrera, Hannah Murphy, Jordin Jensen, Brielle Arauza, Tiana Lopez, and sophomore Meadow Naraghi.

What does having an assistant coach (Megan Faria) who played for you do in terms of adding an extra voice in coaching the team?

Since she has played for me in the past she knows exactly what I am looking for. She has high expectations just like I do. We work very well together. I am very blessed to have her on my bench.

Which are the league’s top teams?

Ripon and Hilmar.

Are you looking forward to returning to the court after not coaching for a few years?

Yes it is very exciting. This group of girls is the reason I love coaching. They are hardworking, eager to learn more, and have great attitudes.
