Discover Scuba

Aquatic Discount Scuba in Escalon provides an introduction to scuba diving with lessons at the EHS pool. Dates this summer are Saturdays, June 25 and July 23. Cost is $15 and the class is designed for ages 10-plus. Class runs 10 a.m. to noon and those attending should bring a towel, swim suit and sunscreen. Register at the Recreation Department.

 

Summer Ball Continues

Escalon has a trio of teams playing baseball this summer as part of the Cougar program, with an A team (varsity) a B team (JV) and a C team (incoming freshmen) all getting on the diamond for a number of contests. Upcoming action for the A team includes this week’s Lee Hampson Tournament at Enochs through June 23 and then a tournament at Beyer, June 27 through 30. The B team is hosting the Bob Loureiro Tournament in Escalon through Thursday, June 23. They close out their season in the Hilmar tourney, June 27 through 30. Incoming freshmen with the C team will play their final game at Downey on Friday, June 24.

 

5K Run/Walk Set

Join in for the Second Annual Brain Health 5K Run/Walk, being held on Saturday morning, June 25, at McLeod Lake Park in Stockton. This special event benefits Healings in Motion, an organization that provides local educational programs and services, supporting brain health, stroke awareness, and prevention. The Brain Health to Beat Stroke’s run/walk course is flat and fast, and features the scenic downtown Stockton Weber Point Area. This route is also wheelchair accessible. Entry fees are $35 for adults, and $10 for children 12 years and under. Race-day registration and check-in begins at 7:15 a.m., with the run and walk commencing at 8:15 a.m. sharp, at McLeod Lake Park (corner of Center and Fremont streets, next to the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel).
