On the road for two games this past week, both of them went into the win column for Escalon’s JV basketball girls.

With no freshman team this season, the JV squad has a mix of freshmen and sophomores, working cooperatively to put a competitive team on the floor.

Tuesday, the girls went to Delhi and came away with a 41-19 victory.

“Leading scorers were Sophie Rexin with 10 points and Haylie Corriea with seven,” said head coach Kacey Cheary.

Friday, the JV team traveled to Tokay in Lodi and battled to a 37-29 win. Emily McPherrin had nine points on the night and Alondra Martinez notched eight.

“They did well and have improved over the course of the week,” Cheary said of her squad. “It’s a good group of girls and I’m enjoying myself.”

This week, though school is out for the holiday break, the girls were slated to play a pair at home, hosting Johansen on Monday and Galt on Tuesday. Both were after sports press time for The Times. Look for information on the contests in the Dec. 30 issue.
