Fast Pace Set By Park Fete Runners

With just under 170 runners in the 2-mile run/walk and nearly 165 in the 10k, over 300 total runners total hit the streets in Escalon early Saturday morning for the annual Park Fete runs.

Winning the 10k was Jared Jeffries, 28, with a time of 37:19 and the first female runner across the line was Betty Topping, 46, who took 11th overall in 45:47. Top three overall finishers included George Cross, 50, who was second at 37:54 and Edward Charles, 15, who took third overall in 38:46.

Top honors in the 2-mile went to Paulo Carvalho, 36, who ran the course in 10:18. Second place went to Moises Benavides, 16, completing the run in 11:06 and Rodrigo Aguilar, 17, was third in 11:04. First female runner across the line in the 2-mile was 15-year-old Katie Krieger, running the course in 13:21 and finishing in 11th place overall.

ShadowChase Running Club of Modesto provided the timing and results for the 7:30 a.m. event on Saturday, July 16 as well as helping to keep things organized and moving along on schedule.
