With a match at home, a win and a loss on the road, the Escalon Lady Cougars golf team kept up a hectic pace in recent league play.

They hosted Waterford at the Escalon Golf Course on Sept. 30 and took a 152-205 win.

Leaders were Mikayla Schut at 34, followed by Ella Adams, 37; Lucy Allbaugh, 39; Ella MacKinnon, 42; Sarah Bava, 44; Kara Kennedy, 47

“This was our last home match,” coach Kristie Cathcart said. “We had a really good team score.”

Tuesday, Oct. 1 they headed to the par 36 Castle Oaks course and crafted a 200-276 win over Amador.

Allbaugh and Schut each carded a 45, with Adams at 52, Kennedy at 58; MacKinnon with a 60 and Bava at 62.

“It was a better score than the first time we played there, and Mikayla is playing really well right now,” Cathcart said.

Action on Thursday, Oct. 3 saw the team face off with Ripon at the par 36 Spring Creek course and once again, the Lady Indians got the better of their Escalon counterparts, with Ripon carding a 175 to the 209 shot by the Lady Cougars.

“We played the back nine at Spring Creek. The course is really nice but really long,” Cathcart noted. “Only one of my girls has played there before. Although the score difference seems big, Ripon is good. I can guarantee that we would have beaten any other team in our league on this course with our score.”

Schut paced the effort with a 45, followed by Allbaugh at 51, Kennedy at 56, MacKinnon at 57, Adams at 59 and Bella Ambro carding a 71.

Also getting on the course this week were the JV girls, earning a 202-220 victory over Linden. Sarah Bava shot a 45, followed by Bella Ambro at 51, Nathalia Guevara, 52; Jianna Cereghino, 54; Gracie Bracco, 55; Arianna Huntley, 64

“It was our last JV match, had the four sophomores and two freshmen play,” said Cathcart. “They did well. With the score they had, they would have beaten several of the varsity teams we have played at home.”

The varsity girls are slated to wrap up league play this week, taking on Summerville, Sonora and Bret Harte.
