Traveling to Turlock Country Club for a Thursday, March 12 contest, the Escalon golf boys came away with a victory.

Action against the host Hughson Huskies saw a 10-stroke win, 259-269, for the Cougars in Trans-Valley League play.

“Escalon was led by Steven Gately and Kaden Schrotenboer,” said head coach Tom Silva. “Escalon moves to 2-1 while Hughson dropped its first TVL match to go to 3-1.”

Gately carded a match low 41 to pace the Cougar effort, with Schrotenboer coming in at 49. Also taking the course for Escalon were Ian Gregg, 50; TJ McNeil, 58; Bryce McKenzie, 60; Matthew Smith, 61.

Hughson had two players shoot 49. Gately picked up six league points and Schrotenboer five, with Gregg collecting two TVL points for his third place effort for the team.

As with all sports, the EHS golf team has been shut down during the school closure in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.
