Escalon’s Lady Cougar golfers competed in the year-end tournament and took fifth place with a team score of 449; they were also fifth in league with a 9-7 overall record.

Ripon won the tournament with a score of 375. For Escalon, Mikayla Schut carded the low score on the afternoon with a 104. Ella Adams shot a 113, followed by Kara Kennedy at 114, Sylvia Guevara at 118 and Ella MacKinnon at 127.

“Three of the four teams that finished above us have multiple seniors, so that is good news for us next year,” said coach Kristie Cathcart. “Overall we had a good year. The girls improved a lot and will only get better next year. We will miss Sylvia next year, but luckily we have our JV team ready to fill her spot.”

Mikayla Schut made all-league, and both she and Ella Adams moved on to the Division 5 tournament at Micke Grove.

They played there on Monday, Oct. 21 and finished their seasons, Schut carding a 100 for the tourney and Adams coming in at 114, said Cathcart.
