Hosting Modesto Christian on Thursday, the Lady Cougar golfers came up with a solid effort and defeated the visitors by a 171-179 verdict to win their third league match of the season.

"Claire Brumley shot her best round of the season with a 37," said coach Stan Maggard. "Shannon Krein had a 43."

Newcomer Brittany Reichmuth, who has been with the team for just the past couple of matches, carded a 44.

"I don't know where she's been," Maggard said, noting that he's glad she is available for the team now.

Annie Nickerson rounded out the Escalon effort on Thursday with a 47.

"We had four nice scores there, this was one of our better matches at home," said Maggard. "It was a very good match for Claire, she played very well."

Conditions were good as well, with the host Lady Cougars playing just a few strokes better than Modesto Christian for the league win.

On Tuesday, the girls were at the par 37 Dryden course to face off with Central Catholic.

Krein carded a 50, a respectable effort on the tough Dryden course.

Brumley had a 57 on the afternoon, Nickerson shot a 70 and Andie Irons had a 76 as the host Central Catholic team improved to 9-2 in league with the 193-253 win.

Escalon closed out the regular season with a 3-9 mark and were slated to play at Micke Grove for the league tournament on Monday.
